Karen Kane-Roby is an accomplished attorney with over 15 years of dynamic legal experience. Licensed in both Kentucky and Maine, Karen has displayed an exceptional range of skills as well as a diverse portfolio, establishing herself as a legal authority in her field.
With an extensive background in the legal landscape, she adeptly represents both individual clients and a variety of businesses across a wide spectrum of legal matters. While her primary focus lies in the acquisition and collection of delinquent tax liens with the state of Kentucky, Ms. Roby’s skills are vast and diverse, including but not limited to, general civil litigation, personal injury claims, debt collection, drafting of deeds and real estate contracts, review of closing documents, and performing real estate closings, drafting probate documents, and the formation of Limited Liability Companies.
For Karen, her love for the law began when she was a junior in high school and her English teacher nominated her to attend a “Leadership & the Law” conference for high school students in New England. After the encouragement from both her teacher and family, Karen knew she had her heart and sights set on becoming an attorney.
Originally from Caribou, Maine, Karen attended Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. Upon being accepted in the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT Program) through Providence College, Karen taught fourth and fifth grades in inner-city Catholic schools in Providence, Rhode Island and New Bedford, Massachusetts while earning her master’s degree in special education and secondary education at Providence College. Karen considers serving inner-city students as one of the most rewarding professional experiences of her career, but after two years teaching, it was further evident to her that pursuing a legal career would help Karen serve others in the capacity that she more greatly desired. In deciding whether she wanted to pursue another three years of post-graduate work, Karen can still hear her father’s voice in her ear, when he said, “hey kid, the greatest investment you are ever going to make in your lifetime, is the one you make in yourself.” So, in the final months of the PACT Program, Karen applied and was accepted into law school at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.
Serving clients on a personal level and with personal attention has always been Karen’s goal. Experiencing, and being “in the trenches,” of each aspect of her legal practice has made Karen appreciate all aspects of her role as an attorney. The best quote that Karen can think of that describes her outlook as it relates to her legal career is, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” Luke 12:48.
Karen and her husband Kyle have been married for 13 years and have one son, Ryan. When Karen is not working, she can be found on the sidelines of any of her son’s games, it may be baseball, football, or basketball, depending on the season.
