J.A. Sowell joined ELPO Law as an associate attorney in August 2017. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Kentucky University in 2013. While attending law school at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, J.A. worked as a clerk at ELPO Law for two summers which helped confirm his interest in the field and in the wide array of practice areas offered by the firm.
J.A. regularly handles defense litigation for state-wide municipalities, including counties, sheriff’s departments, jails, etc. He works closely with ELPO Law partner Park Priest on electric utility defense cases while also practicing in landlord-tenant disputes, personal injury cases, and collections

In his personal time, J.A. is a proud supporter of the Hilltoppers and enjoys rooting for the hometown and family favorite as both of his parents are WKU graduates and his brother was a pitcher for the WKU baseball team. He lives in Bowling Green with his two children.
