Employment law group speaking at Kentucky SHRM conference
by Mandy Hicks
Several attorneys from ELPO’s employment law group will be presenting at the annual Kentucky Society of Human Resource Management conference, set for Sept. 25-27 in Louisville.
Their presentation is entitled “Surviving the Bermuda Triangle: The Interplay Between ADA, FMLA, and GINA.” The ELPO attorneys involved in the presentation are Regina Jackson, Michael Owsley, Gaines Penn, W. Cravens Priest III and Samantha Propp.
Session description: Employee health issues can pose a myriad of issues and can leave the most seasoned of HR managers perplexed over the interplay between the ADA, FMLA, GINA and workers’ compensation. During this presentation, panelists will highlight the responsibilities of HR managers and employees while engaging in the complexities of intermittent leave, requests for medical information in view of GINA obligations, and the interactive accommodation process. Panelists will also resolve questions regarding the most common pitfalls employers face when dealing with these issues.
The presentation is set for Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1 to 2:30 p.m. The conference will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville. Register for the conference here: http://www.kyshrmconference.com/
