ELPO collected items during March and April for two drives that help support food pantries: Feed the Need, a United Way of Southern Kentucky project, and Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy, which is a project of Feeding America.

Feed the Need is an annual project that supports food banks in United Way of Southern Kentucky’s service area, which includes Allen, Barren, Butler, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties. United Way collects the items during February and March. This year’s food drive brought in 109,000 items, 11,000 more than any year previously, United Way said. Feed the Need started in 2009.

Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy is a new event launched by Feeding America – Kentucky. In its first year, the Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy is a statewide food and fund drive competition among law firms, law schools and legal organizations to support Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland and other regional food banks. The food collected by ELPO will help to feed those individuals struggling with hunger in Warren County.
