Aaron Smith elected President of local bar association
by Mandy Hicks
Aaron Smith was elected as President of the Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association today. He was elected on January 17, 2013, at the bar’s annual meeting at 440 Restaurant.
He will serve a one-year term.
Aaron’s goals for 2013 are to continue the bar’s excellent programs, he said, and seek input from members on the types of programming needed to help attorneys better serve their clients and the public at large. “Our bar association has a long history of doing great work for attorneys and for the Bowling Green area,” Aaron says. “We provide Continuing Legal Education seminars for attorneys, which are required to keep our membership in the Kentucky Bar Association. We also reach out into the community, providing donations and service to charitable groups. It’s my intention to increase our charitable donations and plan successful events for our membership.”
The local bar’s collegial nature helps attorneys better their skills and improve their knowledge of the law, working together for the benefit of the public. Aaron plans to continue both the social, charitable and educational nature of the Bar. The organization’s largest event is Law Day, which takes place in May. The Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association won awards in the past from the Kentucky Bar Association for their Law Day programs. Aaron wants to continue the strong planning and execution that goes into that event. “It’s become a hallmark for us to present an event that brings our own membership together as well as brings to the forefront the valuable services that the legal profession provides to the community,” Aaron says. “Our plans aren’t finalized yet for Law Day this year, but I anticipate that with the help and support of others in the bar association, we’ll have another outstanding day of activities.”
